# Does positive pay stop vendor impersonation?

> No. Positive Pay compares checks and debits presented against your account with what you issued or authorized. In vendor impersonation, your own team authorizes a payment to a bank account the fraudster supplied, so the payment matches your instructions and nothing is flagged. Positive Pay stops altered or counterfeit checks and unauthorized debits, not authorized payments to the wrong account.

To stop vendor impersonation, verify bank-detail changes with the vendor's known contact before they are saved. Keep Positive Pay for the check and debit fraud it was built for.

Payee Positive Pay adds a check on the payee name printed on checks. It does not apply to ACH credits or wires you send.
